Have you felt stuck recently or do you feel like no matter how hard you try, you're not seeing the change you want to see? Sometimes life feels like a giant wave crashing down on you, but if the ocean can calm itself, we can too. But even when the ocean is calm, that doesn't mean the waves stop. A goal when working with Dillon in therapy is to help you ride the waves instead of drowning in them. Therapy can provide you with insight into how to get out of this rut.
It's very common to be a little nervous before your first appointment. It's also completely natural to experience uncertainty surrounding therapy. Dillon's goal is to make those fears fade away when you step into the warm and inviting office space. He considers himself laid back and brings his sense of humor to the space (therapy doesn't have to be serious all the time!). Dillon likes to incorporate mind body techniques in his work with others as he believes in the connection between physical and mental/emotional health. Dillon offers unique approaches to therapy, whether that is walking-and-talking, going on a hike, or doing an activity. But ultimately, where and how we conduct therapy is entirely up to you!
Dillon received his Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Louisville, and Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. While at U of L, he worked in hospital settings, university settings, and in private practice. Specialty areas include depression, anxiety, the LGBTQ population, college students, and young adults. Dillon's approach is a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and person-centered therapy. "What does that mean," you ask? Great question. CBT is more focused on how our thoughts impact our emotions and behaviors (this is more of a hands-on, directive, and goal-oriented approach). Person-centered therapy is a non-directive approach focused on building self-actualizing tendencies (similar to calling a friend to vent about something and feeling better after, even though your friend barely said a word). He believe 's therapy is a partnership, and will work collaboratively with you to create positive outcomes.
As a therapist, one of Dillon's primary goals is to break the negative stigma that surrounds going to therapy, because as human beings, sometimes we need a little help. As a gay man, he cares deeply about helping under-served, underrepresented and marginalized communities, and believes that everyone should have access to affordable and quality mental healthcare. He also support 's organizations that fight social injustice, systemic racism, and oppression. Dillon considers himself progressive by nature, and places priority on self development and growth. When he is not working, you can find Dillon either teaching or practicing yoga, exercising, playing/watching sports (Go Cards!), or binge watching some of his favorite shows on Netflix.

Allison McCall, BA

As a student seeking her Masters in Social Work at the University of Louisville, Allison is in the beginning stages of becoming a therapist herself, and is passionately committed to healing the entire person, mind body and spirit.
Allison got her undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University, and has 6 years of experience working in administration for local State government. Working with her therapist, her garden and lots of hours wearing down hiking trails in nearby parks have begun to change those cycles, but Allison still remembers how difficult it can be to reach out for help when things get tough. Asking for help takes a lot of courage, and Allison is excited to support you in beginning your healing process.
