Beth Huss LPCC

Therapist

Beth Huss (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Art Therapist and is a member of the Kentucky Art Therapy Association. Beth has been working with clients in a clinical setting for more than a decade. She graduated with a BFA from the University of North Carolina and completed her Master’s Degree (M.Ed.) in Counseling and Personnel Services from the University of Louisville in 2009. Beth began her career in community mental health, working with families in their homes to help repair relationships and increase communication and positive parenting strategies. Since then, she has worked with children, teens and adults of all ages as they move through life—managing anger and controlling impulses, experiencing increased anxiety and depression, uncovering and processing trauma, facing and coping with addiction, finding acceptance and growth in the loss of a loved one and mapping the realities and rewards of aging.Beth’s primary goal is to create a partnership, walking side-by-side with clients to help navigate life’s challenges. She believes in a person-centered approach, where the individual’s strengths are highlighted and supported. She employs mindfulness and cognitive behavioral techniques and is also experienced in play therapy techniques, motivational interviewing and progressive muscle relaxation techniques. Beth is trained in EMDR and is currently working towards certification. Beth seeks to help clients find positive outlets for difficult emotions and situations using expressive therapies including art, horticulture, and movement. By expressing themselves through an innate desire to create, Beth’s clients are equipped to face challenges even when words fail.
