Laurel Sims-Stewart, M.Ed, ATR, TCADC, LPCC
Taking the first step toward personal healing or help for your child can feel overwhelming, but with the right support it doesn’t have to be. Laurel strives to create a safe, welcoming, and person-centered environment for each individual with whom she works. Her goal is to walk with you on this journey of healing, and empowering you or your child to feel confident in making positive changes.
Laurel is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a background in expressive therapy techniques. She completed her M.Ed. in Counseling with a Concentration in Expressive Therapies from the University of Louisville in 2012. Since then she has had the opportunity to work in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Prior to completing her master’s, Laurel gained experience in the mental health field working with clients on the autism spectrum, children battling chronic medical issues, and as a sexual assault crisis counselor.
Laurel specializes in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, & has extensive experience working with children, teens, & young adults. Laurel utilizes an integrative, insight-based approach including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, psychoeducation, & expressive techniques. She will work together with you to find the strategies that fit best for you or your child.
Laurel offers morning and evening appointments Monday-Friday.
