Marie Coma-Thompson is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) and an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200). She began working in the mental health field in 2000 after obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (BS) from the University of Pittsburgh, and she later completed her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MEd) at the University of Louisville. She has worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health agencies, a psychiatric hospital, and a grief counseling center. In 2007, Marie started teaching yoga and meditation and began to discover the many ways in which yogic philosophy aligns with theories of psychology and mental health.
Marie specializes in working with grief, loss, and trauma and also has experience working with anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, depression, and relationship issues. She takes a compassionate, non-judgmental approach to therapy and has a gift for relating to and uncovering a person’s highest self. In her work, Marie draws from mindfulness-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy as well as from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Buddhist Psychology, and Existential approaches. She is also trained in EMDR, an evidence-based treatment for trauma.
Marie will meet you where you are and help you develop a personalized, integrative path to healing and personal growth.
